Manuel Solano

September 05 — September 25

Manuel SOLANO (b. 1987 in Mexico City, MX) lives and works in Berlin. Encompassing painting, video, and installation, their practice explores memory and identity. Balancing the autobiographical with pop cultural imagery, Solano’s work insists on our shared experiences while drawing from the artist’s personal history. Through a wide repertoire including self-portraits, portraits of relatives and celebrities, animals, architecture and décor, and still lives, Solano explores the relationship that memory and the imaginary share, and how popular culture is a container for our personal self, intimate relationships, and shared histories.
