Thursday, December 1st, 2011 marks the opening of the fifth and final installation of BOFFO Building Fashion with the two week retail installation by Ohne Titel & EASTON+COMBS. The space at 57 Walker Street will contain an immersive display-scape for the Ohne Titel collection that explores textile traditions as a common thread for architecture and fashion design. The designed environment alternates between its role as a spectacular backdrop for display and a visually porous weave suggesting a layering of inside and outside. Folding and interlocking aluminum components are tethered and woven together to form a composite structural surface that creates a play of scale and materiality through pattern, structure, geometry and form.
The Ohne Titel pop-up location will be selling the brand’s first Resort collection. Customers will be able to choose from a wider selection of the resort pieces than anywhere else in the city. Specialty pieces from past collections will also be available for purchase.
Ohne Titel is a women’s collection designed by Alexa Adams and Flora Gill. The designers met in 1999 while attending the Parson’s School of Design. After graduating they separately went on to work for established labels such as Helmut Lang and Vivienne Tam. In 2005, the two reunited to work for Karl Lagerfeld. In September 2006, Alexa and Flora founded the Ohne Titel brand. The brand pairs architectural shape, soft draping and specialty knits with a keen attention to detail in fit and finish. In just five years Ohne Titel have held such honors as the 2009 Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation Award, a top 10 finisher for the 2009 CFDA/ Vogue Fashion Fund Award, a 2009 Swiss Textiles Award nominee. They were recently in the top 10 for the 2011 Vogue/CFDA Fashion fund.
