During this time visitors are invited to join Marie and explore the coastline of Fire Island by boat, collecting debris that is found along the shore. In her Tide and Current Taxi project this year, Marie began collecting and mapping where man-made trash collects in the New York Harbor. The maps and prints that she makes from the collections tell an intimate story of our relationship to the land. With the Fire Island Float-able project she hopes to begin her collections on Fire Island, thinking of new ways to use and imagine the strange artifacts that are unearthed, a project that will further elaborated on next year.
A year later she had crossed two oceans, visited the remote island chains of the Galapagos and Marquesas, and faired hapily in a 42 day open ocean stretch. (That is just to name a few of her nautical accomplishments.)
