BOFFO is honored to present POSES: PaJaMa & A.R.M. in Dialogue, curated by Matthew Leifheit, at the historic Carrington Cottage in Fire Island. PaJaMa, Fire Island’s first queer collective, was composed of painters Paul Cadmus, Jared French, and Margaret Hoening French. Beginning in 1937, they staged statuesque, surrealist-influenced snapshots in the dunes of Fire Island. In 2014, artist collective A.R.M. (Alexandro Segade, Robbie Acklen, and Malik Gaines) participated in the BOFFO Residency Fire Island, presenting “Fire Signs”, a multi-media performance inspired by Fire Island and the historic work of PaJaMa.
