Only Stans is a Collapsed Opera exploring the contemporary homosocial structures emerging from the queer urban culture in the digital age. Richard Kennedy In collaboration with Xander Gaines and skateboard collective The Gay Baker 3 (Benjamin Tongilova, Stephen Ostrowski, and Jonah Rollins) create a meditative and modular immersive experience exploring concepts of permission, the bad boy archetype, and the grey areas of male bonding. What happens when male tenderness melts into performance, shifting perspectives and giving an audience a glimpse of an emerging culture of nontoxic masculinity? By subverting the operatic form they will explore new concepts of queer movement and create a vortex of energy that opens a portal to now and forever.

Richard Kennedy is an experiential composer, choreographer, and curator living and working in Brooklyn, New York. Most recent Works include FREECESS (MOMA Pop Rally), ASSEMBLY (The Kitchen), and the world premiere of HIR commissioned as a part of the inaugural Open Call at The Shed. They have presented work at MoMA PS1, Artists Space, Danspace, Performa17, and The Studio Museum Harlem. Richard is a 2019 MacDowell Fellow and is currently in residence at Open Forum (Berlin)and Mana Contemporary(New Jersey). Richard is a graduate of The Milton Avery Institute at Bard College (Bard MFA ‘19).

Stephen Ostrowski is a self-trained artist, raised primarily in Bangkok, Thailand. Living and working in New York City, Ostrowski explores the balance of polarities through their distinct visual language.
