Join BOFFO in celebrating Chase's prolific painterly practice and the end of the summer season on Fire Island. From 4 - 7pm, the domestic space of 378 Nautilus Walk will be adorned with large-scale paintings, drawings, poetry, and video work produced during Jonathan's BOFFO Residency Fire Island 2022.

On Saturday, September 24th, BOFFO presents Lunar Gloom and Tidal Passion — an exhibition by Jonathan Lyndon Chase. Through a series of paintings, poems, drawings and video/collage, Chase develops new work about the beach, mermaids, loss, mystery and private and public relationships relating to Black queer historical and romanticized narratives. The collection of visual work and writing was inspired by their late father, who served in the Navy during the Korean War. Over the course of their residency, Chase has produced a thorough and multivalent body of work that is both autobiographical and influenced by rituals of togetherness, sex, relaxation, dream and memory.

Jonathan’s work will occupy the home of Noam Dvir and Daniel Rauchwerger, founders of BoND Architecture firm. Through their recent renovations, Dvir and Rauchwerger have modernized the property, reimagining a classic beachfront lifestyle while taking hints from Horace Gifford’s historic houses built around the Pines.
