BOFFO’s artist-in-residence, Eve Fowler, will present work for the second session of BOFFO Residency Fire Island, from June 17 - July 30. During this time, Fowler will develop work for the Printed Matter’s NY Art Book Fair and the Contemporary Artists’ Books Conference at MoMA PS1, which will be held in September. Fowler’s project will feature a lending library with a selection of books on loan from her personal collection, including publications written by her close friends and work that has influenced her practice as an artist. A selection of Fowler’s artwork will also be displayed in the Pines at 4 Ocean Walk, where there will be an opportunity for guests to interact with the artist on a portrait or other art piece that will be completed during the residency. The exhibition at 4 Ocean will be showing Hustlers from the 90s that include NY/LA Queer artists and posters. The program will also feature work from the public art project “A Spectacle and Nothing Strange," a poster series that uses text from Gertrude Stein's "Tender Buttons." Posters from the series will appear in the island as well as in certain homes during the summer. Thank you to BobTortoro for donating his home.
