Since BOFFO’s founding during The Great Recession in 2009, we have supported and presented 700+ artists whose work has created a lasting legacy for the queer and experimental art of our time. We’ve come together with many of these artists to offer artworks for sale that will not only benefit our organization, but also the artists themselves.

With your purchase of any of the artworks in this benefit sale, the artists are offered 50% of the proceeds. The remaining proceeds will support our 2021 BOFFO Residency Fire Island as well as our operating costs. Please consider collecting some of the great work for a great cause before December 17th.

As they climbed, the space widened and they rose into an ever broader light, cold and dry, in which every sound from the oasis reached them pure and distinct. The bright air seemed to vibrate around them with a vibration increasing in length as they advanced, as if their progress struck from the crystal of light a sound wave that kept spreading out. The whole sky rang with a single short and piercing note, whose echoes gradually filled the space above her, then suddenly died and left her silently facing the limitless expanse. From east to west, in fact, her gaze swept slowly, without encountering a single obstacle, along a perfect curve. Still farther off and all the way to the horizon extended the ocher and gray realm of stones, in which no life was visible. Above the desert, the silence was as vast as the space

DRAIN VISION (diptych), 2021
Edition 1 of 5
Archival Metal Printing™️ on brushed aluminum
40in x 30in
Available

Brushed aluminum prints lifted from my experimental batthouse film/choreography/durational performance piece “SCREENS: A Project About Community” shot from 2016-2020 inside of the East Tenth Street Baths during operating hours. The piece is a love letter to bodies IRL and the particular frisson between strangers in NYC.
More information on the project (and a clip of the film) here:

https://www.savannahknoop.net/durational-bathhouse-performance-project

Both prints highlight a term Knoop coins “Drain Vision” lifted from the surveillance term “Drone Vision” ( a position that flies above scanning and gathering data) — within the meta-structure and architecture of the baths, drain vision highlights a positional shift; reveling in gravity, focal points, and connection, as well as the ever gnawing presence of finite resources.

Horse Blankets, 2021
Handwoven blankets
33in x 80in

The blankets are part of a larger project of occupational realism where Boyer imagines these as horse blankets that have been commissioned by businesses, in this case, Fire Island businesses. They are handwoven with naturally dyed wool in Teotitlan del Valle where Boyer worked with a Zapotec family weaving collective called Bii Dauu. The embroidered beading is done by hand by the artist. The blankets can be displayed flat or draped in half as a saddle blanket.
